Cascais, Portugal shares it's territory with Sintra, the Natural Park of Sintra/Cascais...an ideal place to enjoy nature at it's best. It is natural park declared so since 1994. It is a park that Sintra and Cascais share that extends through the mountains of Cintra and Colares as well as it's coastline. The zone enjoys a microclimate with pleasant temperatures, a vast range of flora and fauna such as oaks, holm oaks, medroños, pines, and firs inhabit this unique natural paradise. Lakes and sand dunes, forest and mountains all revolve around the mountain range of Sintra.
Within the Park it is worth mentioning the Cabo de Roca, the most westerly point in continental Europe. A monolith inside the Park displays the coordinates of the place. Ursa beach, with its spectacular landscape is another place to be enjoyed in this zone.
Close to Guincho we find the Boca de Infierno (Hell's Mouth), a beautiful place to visit and enjoy the waves- this is the perfect place for lovers of wind and water sports, and surfers.
The Boca del Infierno is a crater which fills with water when the waves come from the southeast, From above the views are incredible. |
